Genpio

This is Second Opinion, a newsletter created by Hustle Fund, where we weigh in (with our second opinion) and give tactical advice on founder situations.
Today’s Edition
Big numbers don’t get you the meeting. Investors want to know what you sell, who’s buying it, and whether your math actually adds up.
✨Today’s episode: a live teardown of an AI livestream shopping deck.
In this episode, Eric Bahn, Hustle Fund co-founder, sits down with Yev Pusin, a growth vet who spent 15 years at Backblaze and Hustle Fund venture fellow, for a live teardown of Genpio’s pre-seed deck. Genpio is building AI avatars that run livestream sales 24/7 on TikTok, YouTube, and more so brands don’t need humans on camera around the clock. Here are some learnings:
Show the product early: Eric and Yev were five slides in before they knew what Genpio does. Until then, the big market numbers didn’t mean much. Put the product up front so investors know what they’re looking at.
“User” isn’t an ICP: Genpio spelled out the buyer for its enterprise and agency customers but just wrote “user” for small businesses. Something like “e-commerce owner doing under $5M a year” works much better, and it makes a $1,200/month price tag easier to believe.
Make your numbers agree: One slide projected $2B within three years. A later one aimed for $500K ARR by year-end. Investors notice gaps like that. And if your TAM counts total sales but you only keep a small cut, say so.
