We get by with a little help from our friends

Founders often try to do everything by themselves - marketing, sales, customer support, data analysis. Hiring help is often not possible because employees are so expensive. And the affordable folks are often un-trained.

Not anymore, my friends. OpenClassrooms offers free staffing services to startups.

We’re talking about over 8k ready-to-hire, local, diverse, remote & hybrid apprentices at $25/hr who have been trained in practical skills like IT, Data Analytics, Python, cybersecurity, and marketing.

Building a startup requires more than one person and ChatGPT. Get a little help carrying that load without burning through your runway with OpenClassrooms - connect with Jenna Fuentes.

🔥 Today’s Edition

Welcome back to Second Opinion, where we give tactical advice on how to create the perfect pitch deck.

This newsletter is created by your friends Deck Doctors and Hustle Fund.

We launched this thing in late 2023, and in that time we’ve created dozens of videos with strategic, actionable advice about pitch decks. The goal? To help more founders get more meetings and raise more capital.

Today we take a look back at our 5 most favorite videos, and why we love them.

#5: Increasing conversions

💛 Why we love it: Most VCs will skim a deck. They don’t often read it carefully. This video shares a simple but wildly effective way to get your point across quickly.

The result? More meetings with investors.

#4: Design glow-up

💛 Why we love it: We love a makeover moment. Watching Mark from Deck Doctors redesign a slide in a matter of minutes is so satisfying (and educational).

#3: Reviewing a real pitch deck

💛 Why we love it: Kind of a before/after vibe on this one. We look at a founder’s original deck, the problems with it, and walk through the changes we recommend (and why).

#2: Guest appearance by a VC

💛 Why we love it: This is a real-life example of how VCs actually look through decks, and what they’re thinking as they click through.

#1: Airbnb’s pre-seed deck

💛 Why we love it: Airbnb had a big job in their early days. They had to convince investors that a problem existed, and that their controversial (at the time) solution was a good idea. And they did it.

That’s all for now!

We’ll see you in two weeks with a new episode of Second Opinion.

In the meantime, fill out this form if you want your deck reviewed and featured in Second Opinion.

BTW: Trying to create the perfect pitch deck? This is for you.

See ya in two weeks!
