deck review for pAIsaLocal

This is Second Opinion, a newsletter created by Hustle Fund, where we weigh in (with our second opinion) and give tactical advice on founder situations.
finally, a bank that gets it
Most banks were not built with founders in mind. Mercury was. It's banking + credit cards + financial software all in one place, designed for the way startups actually move. No weird holds, no branch visits, no "have you tried a business savings account?" Mercury serves 300K+ companies who have better things to do than fight with their bank.

Today’s Edition
At Hustle Fund, we LOVE nerding out on pitch decks.
And as VCs ourselves, we get a front-row seat to what makes a deck land and what makes it tank.
And that’s why it’s such a treat to welcome back Jose Gadea, Hustle Fund Venture Fellow, as a guest to this week’s edition of Second Opinion.
✨ Today's episode: Jose gives real-time feedback on pAIsaLocal’s pitch deck.
Here’s the episode:
About the Patient
The startup in today's episode is pAIsaLocal, an AI-native tool that gives Dallas-Fort Worth homeowners a line-itemed outdoor renovation estimate in 90 seconds instead of the usual three-week wait.
They're pre-seed, bootstrapped, and have already booked $2.35M in active GMV conversations with zero outside capital raised
Pretty impressive.
The Diagnosis
Eric and Jose liked the founder background - there's a prior exit in there, and the team clearly knows the market from the inside.
But there were a few things that would stop them from booking a meeting: a deck that speaks to insiders instead of investors, a TAM that stops at Dallas-Fort Worth, and a tech stack that raises the wrapper question without answering it.
Watch the episode to see how it all plays out.
